Validators are responsible for committing new blocks to the blockchain. A validator's stake is slashed if they become unavailable or sign blocks at the same height (double sign). At genesis of Elys, the Elys network will have its own dedicated validator network. Elys aims to utilize ATOM Interchain Security (ICS) in a future iteration (v2). This means that it will utilize a hybrid concept to include the validator set of the Cosmos Hub. These validators will run another node dedicated to this chain and they will be paid via tx fees in the native token.

ICS v1 provides a stable platform for network security, and provides clear distinctions for investors who are analyzing risk/reward profiles for staking versus providing liquidity. The rollout of ICS v2 will enable a hybrid concept that fits well with the Elys vision.

Minimum Hardware Requirements

• CPU - 8 Core
• Memory - 16GB
• Disk - SSD or NVMe Size - 512GB or larger (1TB recommended)

Active Validator Set

• Up to 100 active validators (or as set by governance)
• Tokens to stake to be active = more than last active validator
• Tokens may be self-staked or from external wallets within the community

Validator Expectations

• As part of the infrastructure backbone of the Elys Network, validators are expected to play an active role in the community by engaging with the core team and community members, primarily via Discord. Please join the Discord server here.
• Validator setup documents will be provided prior to testnet launch along with github repository

Incentivized Testnet

• Validators who successfully participate in testnet and meet uptime, stress test, and other requirements will be eligible for genesis and a foundation delegation at mainnet launch
